SMOOTHSKIN PURE is fitted with skin contact sensors that check your skin contact before each flash, making sure the device is safe to operate. The sensors must be in full contact with the treatment area for the device to flash.
If the device is not in full contact with the treatment area, the device will not fire. Try adjusting the positioning of the device to ensure full contact is achieved, particularly on more awkward areas like arms and shins.
Power Mode is the highest power setting of the device. Power Mode will deliver the best results, as it is using the maximum power output possible for your unique skin tone. This mode works particularly well on stubborn areas where the hair tends to be denser, such as underarms and bikini line.
Gentle Mode can be used if you find Power Mode uncomfortable or a little too painful. Operating the device in Gentle Mode will reduce the power output, and you will notice less Power Bar indicators illuminated when applied to your skin.
Speed Mode is the fastest mode, and therefore the lowest power mode. Speed Mode is best for treating larger areas where the hair is less dense (such as arms or legs), and where you want to move along the treatment area quickly. It can also be used as a maintenance mode, to be used to keep hair regrowth at bay after your initial treatment regime.
Power Mode is the default setting when your device is switched on. You can toggle between the three modes pressing the Mode Button underneath the main Activation Button.
SMOOTHSKIN PURE will display any error messages through combinations of lights on the power bars on the sides of the handset. This indicates that there is a fault with the device. Stop using the device and contact us.
The smell of burning when in use can indicate that the treatment area hasn’t been properly prepared for treatment. Skin must be completely hair-free (for best results by shaving, if hair is not completely removed it may damage the front of the device), cleaned and dried. If any visible hair remains above the surface of the skin, it can burn on treatment with your SmoothSkin device. If you are concerned STOP treatment and contact us.
Carefully wipe with a soft, dry cloth and ensure that the glass filter is undamaged after every use. Please see your user guide for further guidance.
No, there should not be any glass against the skin. The glass filter is recessed back into the device.
This is perfectly normal, the lamp is quality engineered and has passed the highest standards of quality checks. This does not affect the power output.
The area you are trying to treat is too dark for treatment. SMOOTHSKIN PURE includes an intelligent skin tone sensor that automatically detects your skin tone and selects the optimal treatment setting. Due to the nature of Intense Pulsed Light technology, SMOOTHSKIN PURE is not for everyone and cannot treat very dark skin.
Don’t panic, Smoothie! This is caused by residual hairs, stubble or debris on the surface of the skin and won’t affect the device’s performance in any way, it’s purely cosmetic.
In the future, you need to make sure you have shaved and cleaned the area you wish to treat immediately prior to treatments.
If you’re still concerned, please contact us for further advice.
First make sure:
If your device is still not working please contact us for help.
SmoothSkin Pure features unlimited flashes, for results to last a lifetime. All products include 2 years’ manufacturers’ warranty against faults.
When the Skin Tone Sensors are placed on the treatment area the blue light emitted by the Sensors is reflected back from your skin. The device then not only detects your skin is appropriate for treatment but also tailors the power delivered to your unique skin tone, to maximise your results safely.
To get the most out of your SmoothSkin Pure you should start off by using it once a week for 12 weeks continuously. There is no increased benefit from using your SmoothSkin Pure more than once a week.
In the first few weeks, you will still see some hairs growing – relax. These will likely be the hairs that were not treated in their growth phase (when IPL is most effective). Just be sure to keep up with the treatments. From around 4 weeks, you should be seeing a reduction in hair regrowth. Doesn’t it feel fantastic? There will still be some hairs that need treating as you need to catch each hair in the right phase, but don’t worry, things will only get better from here on in – so keep it up!
Once you have completed your initial 12-week treatment period, it’s plain sailing. You just need to do a quick top-up treatment as required to maintain your results – usually once every 4-8 weeks or so.
