I bought Smoothskin bare about a month ago. This is the first one I got for myself. Never used any of these before. But it is easy to use it. Even my hands are quite small I got the grip of it. And I love that it is so fast. Definitely it is worth investing. It takes about 10 min for whole body. And I can see some of the results already only after two uses. That just amazing :) Enjoy your purchase if you get one! :)
Having been using Smoothskin Gold for over a year now, I was curious to see how the new addition, Smoothskin Bare, would compare. After 7 weeks of use I can now say that I'm very impressed! The new model is easy to use as it glides along a lot more smoothly and seems to zap more quickly between each flash. I was worried that with a smaller device, the results would not be as good as with the Gold, but I have been proven wrong! The device has given the same great standard of hair reduction as I have come to expect from smoothskin, but with the added bonus of being even easier to handle. The only downside is that my partner now wants to use it!
I've used the SmoothSkin method for just over a year now and am absolutely delighted with the results. I went through the process of regular weekly IPL on my legs and as hair regrowth started to reduce moved the process onto thighs, underarms and bikini line. Am at the stage where I now shave odd areas maybe once a week, IPL those areas fornightly, am done within minutes and get to enjoy lovely smooth skin all the time! Am looking forward to summer time and not having to spend anytime planning ahead for wearing shorts!!!!
I have PCOS and have tried pretty much every type of hair removal system to remove excess hair over many years. I know this technology works as I had IPL treatment on my bikini line and chin/upper lip at a salon. Before I started the course I was told the facial hair would probably grow back due to the PCOS and it would need ongoing maintenance sessions. The advice was correct as the bikini line hasn't grown back after 10 years, the facial hair has. I went back to managing the chin hair with plucking every morning but was spending too much time getting rid of those pesky black dots as hairs grow through. Not wanting to spend a fortune at the salon again, I researched the market for products on offer and decided to buy the smoothskin gold, taking advantage of the ability to pay over 3 months. The system is very simple to use and the IPL technology suits my pale skin and dark hair. I don't find it hurts and it's certainly not as painful as waxing. It's great to see hairs fall out after a few days, not all but some, which is why you need to keep treating the area. I use the system as a way of managing the hair on my chin and upper lip, There are fewer hairs at any one time and they seem finer. I also use it on my forearms where the reduction of hair has been dramatic. I use an electric lady shaver in between treatments. I now have a smoothskin bare and there are some differences when compared to the gold version. The bare is smaller, about the size of your hand. It is faster so whilst the gold seems quite fast the bare is quicker, handy for legs especially. The gold automatically adjusts the power to suit the skin colour whilst the bare just has the one power. Whilst the bare is faster, I don't seem to loose as many hairs on my face per treatment as I did with the gold but it is as effective on the finer hairs on my forearms. Overall, I'd say if you have coarse hair think about going for the gold as it has more power, if you have finer hair then choose the bare as it's quicker.
The most important question everyone wants to know is ‘Does it work?’ the answer is definitely ‘YES’ I bought the Smoothskin for Men IPL unit after becoming fed up having to shave my chest and back every couple of days, yes the IPL is expensive but thought it was worth a try. I had read mixed reviews on the web so started using it with an open mind bearing in mind that everyone will react differently and results do depending on the colour of your skin and hair (I am slight tanned with dark hair). Before using it you are instructed to shave the area then used the IPL and treated my upper torso including my upper arms, it is quite time consuming process taking about 60 minutes to cover the whole area (which is quite large) and you obviously do need help to do your back. I noticed within the first few days that the hair growth rate had become significantly reduced with treatment advised to be carried out weekly for the first 12 weeks then once monthly as maintenance routine. I am now in week 6 and really happy with the results so far with no real concerns and by week 12 think I should be totally hair free. So would I recommend this product….Yes I would without a doubt!!
I have been using my smoothskin bare for a while now and so far very pleased with results. I know it is a little bit of a long process as no hair removal is instant but the results the bare is achieving is really positive, highly recommend! Nice small device, light and easy to hold and super fast for what it is doing. Literally 10mins a leg. Faster than a leg wax too!!
Just when I getting bogged down by the time taken to use the SmoothSkin Gold and fiddly indicators, along comes the SmoothSkin Bare!!! It's so fast at repeating the laser flashes and it really glides over the skin. I can now whizz round more areas in minutes without stopping. Skins is so ultra smooth that I want to keep on using it.
Have used the SmoothSkin Gold for nearly a year and have almost hair free legs and underarms, and to be fair, when the hair does grow back you can hardly see it. But having tried this new machine, I cannot fault it, it's really small, compared with the other, It's really light and the refresh rate on the flashes is amazing. I used to set aside a good hour and a half to de-pelt my legs, shaving first then zapping, but with this super whizzy new gadget it would take less than half an hour from start to finish. I know the hair growth isn't as much, but it does still need doing once in a while and to be honest, with this new SmoothSkin, you can do 'other areas' that you maybe couldn't reach before. I've already recommended this to my friends and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to you, so buy one today :)
I own the SS Gold device already having received the new SS device to test I can give some early indications of results. I may come back to update this review in a few weeks. ABOUT ME: I am in my early 40s, and of Pakistani heritage, so have mid-olive skin (albeit with a warm [red/orange/yellow] base tone, rather than cool [blue/purple]). The closest European approximation is a southern European person in a sunny climate, not suntanned to nut brown, but definitely not white! This is an important prerequisite because many IPLs won't work on darker skin tones. This was one of the main things that swayed me to the SS brand - you really can be quite brown to use it (plus it's beautifully designed and lovely to look at). Much of this review will be about the *original SS Gold* device because I owned and used. In terms of the new smaller SS Black Bare device, I would say on results so far: - just as good and as potent as the SS Gold (if not more…?) - much faster than the SS Gold (hurrah!) - fantastic value as number of flashes are unlimited I think? Unlike the Gold - *much* easier to handle and use on tricky areas like upper lip and chin and armpits. I will now review the SS Gold and then mention the new SS Bare. First of all, to say that the original SS Gold device was life-changing for me is not an exaggeration. I bought it principally to win the battle against chin and upper lip hair. Ladies, you know how it goes...mid-thirties onwards or after kids, the unwanted facial hairs start rearing their horrid little heads, and tweezing goes up from once a month to once a week - or worse. One day it occurred to me that I should fix the problem once and for all, before the darn things turn white (and useless for any IPL device), and I end up with a white goatee to rival Tom Jones's. I also thought I may as well sort out armpits and lower legs with the SS device as well (I am otherwise more or less hairless on my body but get awful ingrown hairs on my legs and dark shadows in my armpits when shaving). I used the SS Gold as instructed, and after about two months, I ceased shaving my armpits (only a few fine hairs left), my legs had huge patches totally devoid of hair so mostly sorted, my arms were almost hair free, and all but the most stubborn of my facial hair has gone. What more can I say? My skin is baby smooth. It has been AMAZING and transformative. The only place where I've found hair is more resistant, bizarrely, is my thighs. My leg hair there is very fine anyway and maybe that's the challenge. I don't know... I'm still trying to zap. Now the new device, which I was sent to consumer test, WOW! My lower legs are now devoid of all hair *after one use* - this is not an exaggeration (remember my baseline was nearly all hair gone with the Gold device). And I've managed to catch the last little hairs in my armpits and on my chin and upper lip. My theory is that the new Bare device is easier to manoeuvre so no hair can escape its beam on curved body parts. Drawbacks of the new device: as with the old one, it won’t work on my bikini line because my natural skin tone there is too dark from years of too much hair removal. If you're tanned and buying mainly for your bikini line, you might be disappointed if you are darker 'down there'. That's not the device's fault, it's Mother Nature's (or my own!). The only other drawback is that I find the light pulse much brighter with the new Bare device, so I have been wearing sunglasses when using. But not an issue at all for me. Finally, just to say that compared to other devices on the market, the SS ones are as beautiful to look at as they are to use. Absolutely fantastic all round, I love, love, love, both devices! At £199 and unlimited flashes, this one I think is an absolute steal. In conclusion, it is as my headline says: SS is the best money I have ever spent. And I cannot thank whoever invented and designed them enough.:))
As a fan of the SmoothSkin Gold I was keen to see if there was much difference with the Bare. Both products work brilliantly but for me the Bare is a much better shape which means it contours to your body better when using it on your legs. The Gold I occasionally found I had to angle a certain way to get all the lights to light up so that it would fire the laser. There is also less gap between zaps, the Gold has more of a delay between treatments. I've now been using the Bare for 10 weeks and can say it is just as fantastic as the Gold and my hair regrowth is a lot finer. Looking forward to reducing time between treatments now. Only downside is that I recommended the Gold to all my friends and a couple bought them and now I have to tell them that the Bare is better ;) At least I can donate my old Gold device to my sister :)
I have previously used the Smoothskin Gold and been impressed however using the Smoothskin Bare has been even better! I've only used it once so am yet to see the results on my legs (i'm sure if it is anything like before it won't be long before the results show) however the size of the smoothskin bare and the speed just makes it so much easier to use. You really can do your legs and bikini in 10 minutes! The smaller device definitely makes it a lot easier to hold and to move around your body. Very impressed so far.
Smoothskin Bare - So let me start from the beginning - this device comes packaged in a compact box along with mains plug and instructions. The device is handheld and connects to a mains unit and into a wall socket for power. When you plug it in it turns on immediately and there is no on/off button. I don't see this being a problem as you need to press/hold the activation button when the device is against skin to flash the device. I have used IPL devices in the past and have always loved them but have found the speed at which I can complete a treatment is frustrating. This is due to the time between flashes. The speed of the flashes on the Smoothskin Bare is amazing and I was able to complete a full body treatment including underarms and full leg in under 15 minutes. It is so easy to use and the instructions are clear and simple. The device itself is light in weight which makes it so easy to move around to complete my treatment. I have been following the treatment plan and have seen amazing results with dramatically decreased hair growth. I swim a lot so was shaving every other day to keep myself hair free. Currently I am shaving once a week before treatment but I see this becoming even less as I continue with my regular treatments. I also feel that due to shaving less (thanks to the device) it has reduced the number of ingrown hairs as I am not shaving so much!! All in all a very positive experience and outcome. It only takes 10 minutes a week and the results are amazing!!
This product is so easy and quick to do, you'll get right into the swing of it. I would never get another wax as they're so expensive, time consuming and the risk of ingrowing hairs and infection just isn't worth it. SmoothSkin to hair removal is what GHD is to hair styling. Life-changing results.
I already have the smoothskin gold which was amazing over the 12 weeks and I have minimal regrowth on my legs. However, you do have to keep it up monthly for the best results and I have been a bit hit and miss, partially because im always running late! However, thats where the bare comes in...with the smoothskin bare it only takes 10 minutes, so it's much easier to fit in even before work! I'm on week 2 so far so haven't seen the final results but so far am very impressed and will update this review if anything changes!
The sleek and stylish SmoothSkin Gold is light to hold as it is mains powered - no heavy internal battery to recharge. That fact has several additional positive points: 1. It's ready to use when you need it - not in 4 hours time when the battery has recharged. 2. It wont go flat midway through a session. 3. Most importantly of all no battery to fail rendering the device useless. This happened to me with another very well known brand. So yes - this is my 2nd IPL device. I know the technology works hence wanting to resume my quest for a smooth-as-silk body. I used my previous brand device ad-hoc over a year or so and enjoyed much reduced hair growth. When the battery failed (grr) I researched and found SmoothSkin to have the perfect replacement. I did a total body sprucing once a week for 4 weeks, which was under an hour per session. My previous rechargeable brand would go flat after doing just chest and tummy. The SmoothSkin is such a time saver! Back to the point - after 4 weekly sessions I have no stubble anywhere after 7 days. I waited 5 weeks before posting this review. If you are new to IPL it may take you longer than 4 weeks to get to this point, but not as long as I did with my frustrating rechargeable device that spent more time recharging than actually being used for its purpose. The auto-intensity works very well and best results (strongest intensity) are had when you are fresh and dry from a shower and the light sensors on the device are kept clean. Shave the area to be treated else stubble will get zapped and you'll notice the scent of burnt hair - a waste of light which should have got to the roots. I love the ergonomics. The angled handle means I can do my back. A slight contortion but not uncomfortably so and I'm really looking forward to not shaving my back anymore - which is an uncomfortable contortion! I suggest getting as much IPL done in the winter months when we're paler and more IPL gets to those roots. Hit the beach in the summer with a smooth bod and tan up! I purchased Gold, not the "For Men" version, and it works brilliantly. To cut to the chase; SmoothSkin Gold is an excellent design, has great ergonomics, lightweight, ready for action at the flick of a switch (no recharging!), no messy gels needed, and it works! I'm neck to toe hair free for 7+ days now after just 4 weekly full body sessions. What a joy it is to go to bed smooth and wake up smooth! Except for my face (I'm a bloke) which is now receiving the full attention of this fantastic device. I'm going to turn the recommendation dial up to 11. The cost works out under £1/day - a small price to pay for that sensuous smooth sensation.
Wow received my smoothskin bare last weekend well impressed good looking device it's smaller than other ipl and lighter I've had professional lazer treatment many years ago on my face when I got the chance to test this device I thout yipee let's give it a go into started zapping on my face underarm and bikini line by using stamp mode also done my arms on glide mode well must say very easy to use no pain what so ever took a few minutes I have very light skin and very dark hairs I will update this review in a few weeks
I have been using the Smoothskin Gold for a couple of years. Got the opportunity to try the Bare and as it is marketed as being a faster product, I was eager to give it a go. Wow wow wow. It is so much quicker. I've only had it one week and I will post updates but having used it already, I have found the Bare to be much easier to use than the Smoothskin Gold. It's lighter and much easier to use on the more difficult areas like shins, knees as the contact sensor is smaller. Brilliant!! The hand unit is much easier to hold and manoeuvre and the speed of the flashes means. I know they say to use once a week but I've used it twice already as its so easy to use. I can honestly say regrowth has already slowed and my skin seems softer to the touch. I already have high hopes for this new product. It seems more effective than my Smoothskin Gold and the unlimited number of flashes is a bonus. Back soon with updates.
I'm over the moon with this, it's just perfect! It's really fast,so fast in fact I can do my entire body ( including full arms) in 10 mins. It's nicely compact which means it's very easy to use and it's also pain free. My skin is mixed race and I guess I'm classed as been hairy too, but that's no problem at all for this device. I've only had 2 treatment so far but I can already tell it's working a little so I'm looking forward to the results in a few weeks ( I will try to update). Basically I'm delighted with it and it's just been a pleasure to use:))
